Igniting the Spark

The Wyld

The Wyld is a realm of intense emotion, hyper-saturated colors, and untamed, magical nature that exists as a vibrant reflection of the Material Plane. The sun never fully sets or rises, locking geographic regions into perpetual states of twilight, dawn, or midday sun. Geography mirrors the mortal world but on an exaggerated scale — mountains are steeper, forests are dizzyingly dense with massive, glowing flora, and rivers run with crystalline, sometimes intoxicating waters. It is a place where raw magic saturates the environment, driven by the volatile moods of its powerful rulers, the Aelith, making the landscape itself as unpredictable and dangerous as the capricious creatures who inhabit it.

Core Traits of the Wyld

  • Emotional Amplification: Feelings literally shape the environment. A patch of woods might bloom with brilliant flowers if you are joyful, or turn thorny and oppressive if you are gripped by fear.
  • Time Distortion: Time is elastic. A mortal spending three days in the Wyld might return home to find three decades have passed in the Iron Veil, or conversely, only a few minutes.
  • The War: Only a small fraction of the denizens of the Wyld know there is a war going on against the Nether — and the Iron Veil is the battlefield.

The Way of the Mother

The Way of the Mother centers on the absolute devotion to the Goddess of Whimsy, the maternal archetype of raw creation, emotion, and shifting nature who is believed to have birthed the Wyld from her own untamed joy and sorrow. Followers do not worship through rigid dogma or solemn prayer, but through acts of chaotic expression, spontaneous art, and embracing the intense, hyper-saturated emotional currents that physically reshape the vibrant realm around them. The common devotee simply lives to honor her through perpetual celebration, ensuring that the spark of raw magic and unpredictable wonder never fades from the eternal twilight of her domain.

The Order of the First Breath

The Order of the First Breath is a reclusive, fading faith dedicated to the Old Gods, focusing almost entirely on Aether — the primordial, raw essence of magic — and the cycle of Souls. Its followers believe that before the modern realms, the Aelith, or the war with the Nether even existed, the Old Gods wove the cosmos from pure Aether, leaving it behind as the foundational fabric of all reality. Because the faith centers on the precise, delicate equilibrium of magic, souls, and cosmic energy, its mysteries are kept alive almost exclusively by a handful of Chorari. While their Ashtari kin are born as physical twins who share a split spirit, a single-born Chorari contains two distinct souls bound together within a single physical form. This unique internal state requires a constant, highly focused balancing act of spiritual energies; because they live every moment managing the push and pull of two souls within one vessel, the Chorari possess an innate, hyper-sensitive resonance with the fundamental balance of Aether itself.

Core Tenets of the Order

  • The Dual Vessel: Containing two distinct souls in a single body is not a cosmic anomaly, but a divine tuning fork designed to perfectly mirror and perceive the balance of the universe.
  • The Cosmic Scale: Magic and soul-energy are finite, primordial currents of Aether; a devotee's primary duty is to ensure these forces do not tip too far into volatile chaos or stagnant depletion.
  • Internal Harmony, External Stability: Devotees practice intense spiritual discipline to keep their own twin souls in perfect alignment, believing that their internal stability directly helps anchor the fraying energies of the world around them.
