Ashbourne

The weather is still cold, but it’s slowly getting warmer with Spring well on its way. The day light hours are as long as those of the night, but the nights are getting shorter. In the Wellsorrow Region, the Shadowfell despair is fading in its cycle. The people of Ashbourne and surrounding areas are feeling happier and it’s easier to shake the despair, and harder to fall under its influence. There is a half moon in the night sky tonight. A red comet will be visible throughout most of the night.

Shadowfell Despair Check: DC 9/15

Where is it? Where the fuck is it? I searched everything. Zand was hurting, but the pain would fade, but the despair returned stronger than the prior day and he was fighting it. That was the worst thing to do when the madness came.

He needed another dose. I frowned as I searched frantically for the vial of Tranquil. No one had seen it.

Oog offered to help, but that would be three hours without a dose. I wasn’t sure I could survive three hours without falling unconscious. I didn’t want Kor-gyral to take over.

I couldn’t watch as Zand writhed in the pain made worse by the madness. I nodded to Oog, “Yes. I need sticky oil. Can you produce some?”

Oog giggled gleefully and he went about preparing himself and I pulled out three empty vials from my pouch. “Fill these with the sticky oil.” I said to Rain.

He took the vials and watched curiously as I pulled out my mess kit, the tea mixture and found the pouch with my flammable items. I prepared the makeshift campfire and called upon the magic inside to pull the water pitcher from the night before to me to start making the tea.

Oog went to a corner and he and Rain collected three vials of boggle oil. It stuck to everything and was hard to work with but they managed. Oog made more ease of it than Rain did.

Oog handed me two of the three vials capped with the stoppers, Rain was struggling. “I’ll use that one, Oog can collect a third.” I said as I took the open vial from Rain and dumped it into the container. I sighed when I realized I wouldn’t have enough vials to store the entire batch. Vials were expensive.

Rain squatted down and watched me as I made the tea. “There is nothing left to do but wait.”

“The pain will pass in an hour. But the despair has taken hold in Zand.”

“I’m aware.” Rain said. “He must be susceptible.”

“He had it yesterday. And didn’t shake it this morning. This will help but it has drawbacks.”

“What kind?” Rain asked.

“The longer you take it the more you have to take it. I don’t think I’m strong enough, I might fall unconscious, and that is dangerous.”

I pulled again upon the magic inside and fortified myself. There wasn’t much more I could do. “But if I do, in three hours, give me one dropper full.” I tapped the pouch on my waist. “If Zand has a lucid moment after it’s made you can offer him the same.”

Rain nodded. “What exactly is your vocation?”

I didn’t get a chance to answer as Mirada returned, there was a cold chill about her as she stepped inside. She stomped through the room drawing our attention to her.
