Ashbourne

The weather is still cold, but it’s slowly getting warmer with Spring well on its way. The day light hours are as long as those of the night, but the nights are getting shorter. In the Wellsorrow Region, the Shadowfell despair is fading in its cycle. The people of Ashbourne and surrounding areas are feeling happier and it’s easier to shake the despair, and harder to fall under its influence. There is a half moon in the night sky tonight.

Shadowfell Despair Check: DC 9/15

I was so tired. But the thought of running out of Tranquil drove me into the city and into the disparate locations where I might find a Boggle. In my mother’s prison, Boggle’s came to me. I might not be so lucky so far from the Leech. It felt less here, but when darkness descended upon the city I felt the walls closing in on me.

If I were to befriend the creature, I had to know what it wanted. I thought about it on the wait for a Boggle to show up as I sat in the shadows of an alleyway behind boxes like a beggar or miscreant. I belonged here much like the Boggle.

I could barely hear the noise of a nearby inn from where I sat. People were so close and yet I still felt all alone in this world.

In the darkness, the shadows slithered as if something were moving in them. A small smile drew across my lips. What I had been waiting for. I reached out across the alley way when a man ran past carrying too many things. A waterskin full of water smacked me in the head and I tumbled into the middle of the alley. The Boggle scurried past me and I scrambled after it. But soon after the first man ran past another barreled through and crashed into my side. Ouch! I whimpered to myself. The pain of his knee in my rib cage had me curled over on myself.

My breathing was raspy as I tried to pull in air that was lost upon the collision. I looked over at the fallen man, his eyes were ice blue and I couldn’t take mine from his. But the Boggle was getting away.

There was a new sound the way the man was running…
