AJ and I got tagged by Ambrose’s writer, I’ll take a stab at answering for AJ since it’s more writer related and AJ doesn’t want to break into my world here. She’s so kind sometimes! (sometimes being the key word obviously!)
Tell me about your NaNoWriMo project this year! Give me a blurb!
Well this year, AJ’s considering doing Game Off instead. But she’s waiting on the theme and if it fits her idea then she’ll do it. So we actually have several projects on the line right now. AJ’s got the Highschool AU to finish, there are a lot more tropes she wants to write, and there is the Search for X which is the story she wants to tell in game for game off. If that doesn’t pan out AJ might still do that anyway. It’s a fun little story about Nix – a mutatant bounty hunter making friends and looking for a mystery item called X.
What’s the genre?
All topics are M/M romances to a degree.
Describe your MC in three words.
We’ll go with Nix: Alone, outcast, monochromatic
Without spoilers, describe your villain in three words.
Horizon Unlimited Corporation: rich, powerful, corrupted
What is your goal? (the traditional 50K? 20K? 5K? or……. 100K?)
Always 50K for NaNo. AJ can write more, but they are still working on the new house and pushing really really hard to get in before Thanksgiving.
Is this your first draft? Second? Third?
First draft
Are you starting a new project (or draft), or continuing an existing one?
Both lol….
What is your favorite time to write in the day?
AJ is an early bird. Up at 4am to write. Her brain stops functioning after 5pm most days.
Where are you going to write?
In her room, or at her desk at work if she sneaks in any words.
Computer or paper?
Computer
NaNoWriMo is a huge commitment!! How are you going to make time to write?
50K is a normal month for AJ it’s her typical goal every month. We don’t always make it but it’s almost always our goal. AJ can knock out 2 to 3 K in her mornings so it’s usually pretty easy to accomplish.
Are you going to participate in local or online NaNoWriMo events? (e.g. kick-off parties in your city, write-ins, virtual writing sprints…)
Nothing local. AJ’s not much of a socializer, and hates driving so if it’s not local she won’t go anyway. And she was never very good with sprints and such mostly because she gets distracted by the things going on around her.
Do you write from beginning to end or skip around?
Always in a straight line. Skipping around makes meeting ends meet difficult.
Planner or pantser? (or plantser?)
Planster. AJ has an outline to start with even if it’s just a bunch of plot points in order to hit. And then she lets me and my various selfs take the reigns.
What will be your go-to NaNoWriMo snack?
NaNo is no different than a regular month for AJ so there is no go-to snack because there is no crunch time, no hours on end of writing. Just clean consistent work in the morning.
Choice of caffeine? (or no caffeine?)
WELL… AJ’s supposed to be kicking caffeine in general, but there was some stress about a month ago and she’s not quite gotten back on track, and her head feels it. So we will say NO caffeine.
Any rewards for milestone achievements? For finishing NaNoWriMo?
No rewards, except maybe if Scrivener 3 for Windows is done AJ might buy it. Though the beta didn’t seem to do what she wanted either.
Share a tip for other NaNo-ers!
Dedicate a time to write.
How are you feeling about NaNoWriMo? (Excited?! Nervous!? Terrified?!)
AJ’s excited about The Search for X. Me and Alex don’t really care, we are in both anyway lol.
Share an aesthetic for your NaNoWriMo novel!
Don’t have one. AJ doesn’t typically do those, we were lucky to get a pintrest board for High School AU.
I don’t know if any of my followers are doing NaNo this year. I’ve had a few crop up over the last few weeks since AJ posted my link to the NaNo site for the wordpress blogs, so I don’t really have anyone to challenge, so whoever wants to give it a go go for it, give me a link and I’ll edit the post to include ya’ll in it. (OMG AJ stop with the fucking ya’ll)

Thank you for taking the time to do this. I really enjoyed reading your answers!
I also write straight through from beginning to end. Just because so many things can happen between this plot point and that one. Or certain planned scenes will happen sooner than expected because of direct character intervention. Jumping around would not work at all for me. :D
I haven’t fully decided if I’m going to share this year’s NaNo story on WordPress or not. I’m still making waffles about it. I guess I’ll see how the story goes. If I like how it’s going and sounds, I’ll share it. If not, hahaha! Never mind.
