Can’t See the Trees

Isn’t there a saying ‘can’t see the trees for the forest’.  Meaning you can’t see the individual because of everything else in the way.  That’s how the Venatori are.

They are so caught up in tradition and the way things have always been done, they fail to see that things have changed, people have changed, and the way we handling things is archaic. Granted I don’t say the Venatori should be run by a democracy. I don’t believe they should pay us our share and let us do with our money as we please.

But we aren’t all seeing – all knowing. We are but one race among many who are part of the Clandestine Providence. The Aeternus where tasked with guiding the fledgling races – the oldest of the immortals. They were the leaders the guides. But when they died out because of their stupidity. I mean who gives a subset of their own people carte blanche authority over everyone without any sort of checks and balances. I’m not talking democracy. I’m talking about internal affairs in police terms. Someone watching the individual police – making sure no one is abusing their power. Because all in all that’s why the Aeternus died out. A long lived race with no means of quick reproduction when your numbers dwindle means death for your race. It took a few hundred years, but it was easy to wipe them out.

The Venatori need to change, or what happened to the Aeternus will happen on a much larger scale when the rest of the supernatural community has an uprising and slaughters us all. It’s either change – or it’s die in our world. And I think the Venatori would rather die than change.
