Insults anyone? We have the typical racial slurs – a Venatori can look like any human on the planet in terms of skin color, hair etc. We are human to a degree, but it’s the origins of our background that gave us our coloring just like humans. Same goes for Primeval vampires, the sun changes their skin just like any other being on the planet – it’s called evolution. But I won’t get started on that I won’t ding humans for their religious beliefs and I won’t ding the Venatori for theirs. I just don’t care one way or the other.
There are still those against smart people, against their sexuality. However in the supernatural world there are other slurs that are as insulting based on our supernatural abilities. To call someone a witch is typically a bad thing. A witch is a human who can use their connection to the supernatural world for magic – some are good, others are bad but being a witch is neither, but when someone in the supernatural world calls you a witch they typically are insulting your heritage of magic because you are human and not of the supernatural races.
The Venatori are often called feras which in latin means wild, but it refers to the fact that the Venatori don’t care who they kill or why they are killing them – basically calling them wild beasts – inferior to the ones the Venatori call beasts.
Vampires are sometimes called fangers or leeches. Both descriptions are true, but the vampires take offense, much like a human takes offense to four-eyes.
Werecreatures are often called by a benign name to insult their heritage. A werewolf is often called a dog, one of the large cats, lions, tigers, panthers, are called pussy-cats. A werebear is often called a teddybear. The cut innocence of the name is in direct opposition of the true danger these creatures can bore down on you.
Slurs are mean and degrading, and they are meant to hurt a person, however, it’s a word and I’ve learned that while words sting emotionally, they can’t hurt you if you don’t let them. Anyone who calls you one of these names is merely trying to tear you down. And no one should let anyone do that to them.
