My first impression when I saw todays prompt was oh yeah, I’m a rebel. And then I was thinking about what I rebel against. And AJ had to go look up the word to make sure they were the same word.

You are a /ˈrebəl/ but you /reˈbəl/ .

Like really? The same word with basically the same meaning but one’s a noun and one’s a verb sound differently. My question – why?

Same thing for read. You \ˈrēd \ a book in present tense and you \ˈred\ a book in past. But they are both spelled the same?

Again… I reiterate and it probably won’t be the last time. English is stupid!

My name is Nox Sétanta. I am first and foremost a fictional character escaped from the mind of my creator AJ. In layman's terms I'm a magic wielding monster hunter born to my human mother and my Venatori father.
