You Can’t Make ’em Drink

You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make em drink

So many idioms, so little time to understand them all. This one’s pretty simple. You can provide the opportunity but they may not take it.

I could probably go on and on about how this is what happens with the Venatori, but more often then not it happens when I hand off the supernatural to its own kind as well. The person just never does anything with their second chance, or the race doesn’t do anything to help the person regroup. Death isn’t a means to an end.

It is a means to keeping the populations low, which is why I think most choose to do what they do. Rogue elements tend to bring our kinds into the light of day, and while most supernatural creatures can walk in the sun, the shadows is where we live and where we thrive.

I don’t know how may lies I’ve told over the years just to keep my abilities secret, or my life as a whole. I mean on paper I’m a bounty hunter, I have a meager living and I’m barely educated by any human standards. But I had the best education I could have for what I am. Dae’lin was the best teacher I ever had mostly because I was her only student. I have been her only student forever. She won’t take another now that I’m available to take kids on. Other than Mark Green she was the most powerful and skilled of the Magnus who could wield all four elements. But Dae’lin isn’t Cesari, so my training wasn’t as precise as it could have been. But what can you do when you are unique.
